Kiribati is an island nation located in the central tropical Pacific Ocean. The island nation is composed of 32 atolls and one raised coral island. The name Kiribati is the local pronunciation of "Gilberts", derived from the main island chain, the Gilbert Islands, which in turn were named after the British explorer Thomas Gilbert, who discovered the islands.
The people of Kiribati speak an Oceanic language called "Gilbertese". Although English is also an official language, it is not used very often outside the island capital of Tarawa. It is more likely that English is mixed in its use with Gilbertese.
Postcard
A self-made postcard from Kiribati, which is the most nearest country to Nauru. Thanks my friend, Hugh, who is good at Animal Science and also serves overseas as a volunteer like me. He is really a funny guy!
Another not very easy country! I'm impressed! :-D
